Note on traditional vs. self-published: no matter what service provider you use, you are considered self-published if you paid any money whatsoever to have your book published. Traditional publishers do not charge authors for publication. Be aware that, to most bookstore staff, saying your book is from an independent publisher implies a small traditional publisher–independent in the sense of not being owned by a large corporate conglomerate, like Chronicle Books, Candlewick Press, Sourcebooks, Algonquin, etc.)
Please use the form below to contact us regarding planning an event or stock signing on or off tour. Events are ideally booked a minimum of six weeks in advance to allow for proper publicity. However, if yours is a book we stock (or would like to), we will do our best to accommodate.
Regarding self-published authors, please read the following carefully before contacting Spellbound staff and do not drop by unannounced to show us your book(s). This is unprofessional and inconsiderate.
While we feel a responsibility to help new authors get a foothold and to support the local creative community, we must be very careful about choosing our inventory and planning our events in a way that supports our business goals. Shelf space is a limited and valuable commodity in a small store like ours.
At this time, Spellbound stocks very few self-published titles and is not accepting any new ones. We may add a special section for local self-published authors later in the year. Check this page for updates, and please do not call, email, or drop by regarding having us stock your book in the meantime. Thank you for understanding.
